No so long ago, when a Dalmia-OCL #refractory product, service or solution got made in India, and was delivered to customers across the globe, a network of three India-based refractory companies used to work behind the scenes to enable and fulfil such a delivery. These were Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd - Refractory Division, Dalmia Refractories and Dalmia GSB India. With effect from March 1st, 2022, all three have merged into a single legal entity called Dalmia Bharat Refractories Limited. A stronger, unified, more connected, agile and efficient business unit, DBRL will convert its newly acquired advantages into better, newer and improved refractory solutions for its customers. The merger will also enable Dalmia-OCL to accelerate its plans in areas such as capacity and capability enhancement, training & development, and digitisation, in order to realise its dream of emerging as India's leading refractory business by 2025, and a One Billion Dollar #global refractory business by 2030.

As a Refractory company, we work behind the scenes. When industrial furnaces and kilns make ferrous and non-ferrous materials at very high temperatures, we persevere behind, performing a critical job of lining the furnaces and protecting the material being produced.

Our job needs a lot of specialisation, it warrants deep understanding of what is being made and how it is being made. And this is what we have been doing for six decades, and counting...

When independent India started building its national assets, we were right there helping its steelmakers make bridges, railways, roads, buildings, the works. Which is why since the 20th century, we have enjoyed great partnerships with Tata Steel (then TISCO), IISCO (which later became a part of SAIL), Rourkela, Durgapur, Bhilai, Vishakhapatnam and private sector companies like JSW and Essar steel.

In Cement, we have had an equal edge, if not better. Decades ago, when we started making refractories for our own group Cement plants, we internalized the cement making process and armed with this in-depth understanding, went on to become the country’s leading provider of high alumina bricks for cement industry. And soon enough, came a time when almost every cement rotary kiln in the country had used our refractory bricks.

As the 21st century India got busy with its spot in the sun as an economic superpower in the making, we helped make materials that built skyscrapers, strengthen swanky bridges, lay miles of road and rail network and generate power for 1.3 billion people.

Our good work gave us wings and we established presence in over 70 countries around the world, gradually making our mark and replicating our India success story.

Amidst all this, we continue to single mindedly and doggedly pursue refractories, working with changing production processes, learning new trends and tailoring products to meet modern-day technologies and needs.

Truth be told, we are not just passionate about Refractories. Refractories is in our DNA.
